So he has no words what so Eva and doesn't make sounds like mmmm etc, he has some understand but doesn't point or wave, he can use some signs but u have to sign first for him to do it back to you. He does make happy and sad noises. What makes it harder is that he can't walk either so can't just go get what he wants.

He has bilateral hearing loss and development delay ( born at 28 week )and cp and hydrocephalus so has a lot going on

He does have speech and lang on the nhs but as good as a choc tea pot, never seen in person only had a couple of phone calls

Do I wait until he's older maybe 3 and if not improve pay for a private speech and Lang or do it now ? Am I worried over nothing

If he can't hear, this will be a big part of the problem. What are they doing about that?

He wears aids in both ears so it's not that he can't hear

In that case I'd push for more SLT. Have they said he has hearing for speech?

Yer so it the high freq f's t's letters that he can't hear without his aids, but he's well aided and now wears them nearly all the time he's awake.
We have tod to who is good but haven't see her due to covid, we do all the things with they have said talking to his face, reading to him using some sign.
I just don't know if I'm being impatient and he will get their own his own our would benefit from a private salt that would work one on one with him

The thing about SALT is that unless your child is in a specialist setting where they receive daily therapy or you can pay for daily private therapy you do most of the work yourself in between sessions. Getting a quality book like Hanen more than words and implementing it into your every day routine is what I would recommend.

Of course if you want to pay for private SALT then go for it. Depending on where you are and what’s available it can be a bit hit or miss trying to find one you think is right for your family. That’s been my experience anyway.
