Poor ds is so sad today

Tomorrow his beloved 1:1 is leaving and he has been crying himself to sleep since she told him last week He has also been a complete nightmare for me and has had several meltdowns - I even had to restrain him the other day When we got to school this morning she wasn't in the classroom and he panicked that she's left already and he wouldn't get to say goodbye. I am alternating between wanting to hug him and make it all better and throttling him becuase he is being such hard work.

He is going to be devestated tomorrow and i could just cry for him

oh, Dustystar - that sounds very painful for you and your DS.

Is the new person going to start straight away? What a shame a crossover can't be in place so that children don't have to negotiate this.

Unfortunately the school aren't interviewing until after 1/2 term. They have a temporary replacement who already works at the school and has come in a couple of times this week to work with him alongside his current TA so he will at least know her before she takes over after 1/2 term. i'm not sure why she can't be the permanent replacement. I asked but no-one seems to know

She's leaving for personal reasons but has told ds that its beacuse she has so much work to do on her Mum's house (she died this summer). Bless him he keeps trying to think of ways he can help her with the house so she can stay with him at school.

That's so sad, Dustystar.

Very sad day. Lots of tears from ds and his TA (and me) I don't think its really sunk in yet that she's not coming back although his other TA says that he has talked about being angry with her for leaving and that its a bit like going through a bereavement for him

I'm annoyed with the school though as his TA that left told me that the school had known for a month that she was leaving today but made the decision not to even start interviewing for her replacement until after 1/2 term So he has now got to get used to the fact that shes not coming back, get to know his new temporary TA and then get to know another TA when they eventually find someone.

sorry to hear this Dustystar. A shame the school haven't managed this more thoughtfully.

Poor ds

He was crying when he went to bed and he has just woken up crying now. I wish I could take all the hurt away and make it all better...

There's no school tomorrow and i think its going to be a long 1/2 term
