Hi this may be long winded but looking for your experiences. My 3 year old is expecting his first app in 2 weeks time. We are already under portage, inclusion funding at nursery and SLT.
He's a beautiful, kind and a very gentle child.
He has been under the hospital since birth from a range of things from allergies, asthma and I first mentioned he didn't babble or turn to his name so a hearing test was completed and he passed. He didn't sit unaided until around 10months milestones were often late but always told, which I appreciate all kids develop at different times. A obsession for spinning objects car wheels were to start then too washing machines, house gold appliances to wind mills, power stations and water towers. He can speak well but parrots a lot of what we say often. We also talk a lot about his interests. He's not shy he's actually super confident and has no fear of danger we have locks on windows, baby gates up. Doesn't tend to grumble if he hurts himself. He's very loud and stimms at home (growling started at 4 months old) continuously. He is getting better with eye contact but isn't very cuddly. He has lots of sensory needs and is currently on a special diet due to chocking on food continuously, likes to touch poo and press things to his mouth and neck. He's extremely good at retaining information from people's car colours, noticing makes and models and now front door colours of houses we've visited in the past and what colour water towers are depending on who lives near it. He remembers minute details that everyday we wouldn't tend to pick up on. He doesn't pick up on social queues of change of tone of voice. He's always been quirky and I wouldn't change him for the world he's my biggest accomplishment in life and I couldn't be more proud of him.
Sorry but that was just to give you a bit of back ground on him. What can I expect to happen on our first appointment? How long was your diagnosis given to get? I'm going to write a list of things I feel are important to ask/tell them. Many thanks
