My son 2.5 ASD did something amazing on Saturday...

My sister had loads of friends over and they were loud and noisy (teenagers) and my son voluntarily went to join them from the kitchen where I was worried he might go nuts- he used to scream and cry if one person came into the house that he didn't know. I'm chuffed He even leant on a girl he didn't know!

That is a big step!!!

WOW!
All I can say is WOW!
My ds 2.5(asd) went out with my husband at the weekend, and let my husband's friend play peek-a-boo with him for 10 mins.
He also survivied a playcentre teaming with other kids for half an hour without meltdown. I am so pleased.
You must be chuffed!
I think we should all write about what our children can do.

Definitely Deeja, that's really great about your son too!

A thread about progress is a great idea. I'll add one - this week DS2 (5) has started feeding his teddy, giving him a drink etc. Imaginative play - yaaaaay!!!!!
And he did it yesterday when the SLT was here! Double yaaay!!!!
OK, so he only does it when we ask him to
(at the table as part of his ABA programme) but I can't count the number of times he's been asked to do this over the years by professionals and has just looked at them blankly.

Thats really good! Well done Sphil's ds.

well done to mini-staryeyed and mini-deeja and mini-sphil. Lovely idea to have a progress thread.

Progress. What a fab idea. DD laughed at a slapstick joke the other day thus showing that despite or total physical disability she's still in there so yah boo sucks to all the docs who dont believe me (she's 3)

Saturn74 · 19/10/2007 10:11

that's fab, staryeyed!

Ah, a thread for good news! I have some: DS has started asking questions. LOTS of questions. OK, they are mostly about how tall everything is, how much things cost, how many minutes it is until bedtime, with only one "Why" question so far, but it's a big leap forward.
