Hi
Ds age 8 is being referred by school for possible adhd.
The school have been assessing him since last year and are putting referal in next week.
Im deverstated, worried about his future, about to become single (seperate to this).
Did anyone feel embarrassed telling family & friends or for other parents to know?

No, I am not embarrassed by my beautiful, funny child and neither should you be.

I totally get where you are coming from, there is an element of "why us" but honestly, the sooner you learn to love your child for who they are, the sooner you will both feel loved and safe with each other.

Maybe find out if there are any support groups near you?

Also just to add, I don't know the severity of your child's diagnosis but please remember that you are your child's advocate. You need to fight for him every step of the way, and that starts with acceptance.

I'm sorry if this comes across as harsh, I don't mean it to be. I'm just trying to help gain some perspective Flowers

Thank you so much for your reply
This is all new to me, ive always just thought hes a boy, full of energy etc.. I often thought maybe im not strict enough etc.. thats why hes hypo or rude.
Im just worried about him being labelled and I don’t want others to see him differently or as he’s got something ‘wrong’ with him.
His behaviour isn’t that bad hes just more load than anything. And unable to concentrate at school.
