My dd 8 is currently being assessed for ASD. She has to read every night but hates it, she can read fine but just doesn't want to have to read a book that the school want her to. Anyone else ?

@Willowmartha1 Does she have to read the book set by the school? Could she choose a book instead?

I find exactly the same with my DD 10, also under assessment.

I now just let my daughter read books of her choice from home. It's just not worth the battle or anxiety that pressure to read her school book causes.

Infact, at present my DD's anxiety is so high in general - she isn't doing any form of school homework, at all. We will hopefully work homework back in when her mental health is better.
