Hi everyone!!

I'm looking for tried and tested ideas for a toddler boy who's nearly 2,5 years old and who is autistic and developmentally delayed. He bites on everything and everything goes into his mouth!
I'm having the idea that soon we're in more stricter lockdown and I would like to be prepared more.

He loves sounds, pictures and he's hyper active 🥰 We just got a new small trampoline for him and he loves water play since a little while but we can't really do that indoors and outdoors starts to get too cold here now.

Any ideas or suggestions are very very appreciated, thanks 👍🏼

I’ve got an autistic son who will be 7 just after xmas, he’s got a development delay too, few ideas for you.

Play doh, I bought shape cutters and a rolling pin to use with.

Dry wipe board from amazon and wipeable pens, he’ll be a little too young yet to draw or practise letters but will help him learn to hold a pen in the correct grip and do a bit of scribbling, good for his fine motor.

Peg board with the little coloured pegs, great for fine motor.

Little wooden train set from Argos for about £15 he learnt to build the track pieces together himself then I just added additional trains and bits and pieces like all the wooden stop / go signs from amazon.

An indoor tent, we put some cozey blankets and cushions in and he goes in there with his iPad sometimes / good for them to chill out in or lately my ds goes in it when he needs a pooh! 😂

My ds also loves stuff like these links below.

www.amazon.co.uk/Milly-Ted-Wooden-Track-Racer/dp/B07SFXV7SN/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=wooden+car+ramp&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1601142706&sr=8-3

I’m a big fan of amazon. In fact I’m a big fan of spending money in general 🤣

Obviously some of those bits have small pieces (ds still puts things in his mouth too!) I still bought them, I just supervise whilst he’s playing with them.

You can do water play in the bath, it’s a great thing to do in the daytime when you’re stuck at home. I also used to fill the sink for my ds and let him play with the water.

Melissa and Doug latch board has been big hit for us

Hi @danni0509 I've seen a bigger peg board for my little one, we got some play dough and kinetic sand in and we've made a list for other things too. I love Amazon as well and I've made a list there too for him!! Thanks so much!

@openupmyeagereyes You know I might do a bit warmer water play now it's getting colder for my little one and then I might feel warmer hands for once as well haha! Thanks!!!

@Pixie2015 YES exactly!! I've been looking on eBay since I find them a bit pricey but I'll keep an eye out for them!! Thank you
