Tics or touettes?

Hey guys so my three year old has just developed a few tics and I'm a little worried. Hes always been overly sensitive, a little anxious and ocd. Anyway he had a tic a few months ago of exaggerated blinking. It went away by itself after a few weeks. Now he pulls a face, like a grimace with his lower jaw, especially at daycare I've noticed.
In the last week hes also started repeating a noise over and over it's like... gidagid, sorry if that doesnt make sense! It's a complex sound that he does often, playing, relaxing etc I've pointed it out and he has no idea he's doing it or if I ask him to make the sound on purpose he cant. Could this be tourettes? Or some other type of tic? Thanks!!!

Hi OP, we'd a really similar issue recently with our lad (5), for him it started shortly after lockdown. He kept pointing to things and saying "is it ok if I touch there and then swallow it?". It became almost constant... about 10 times a minute. It's completely resolved now. I realised that with all the sudden change he was trying to establish some certainty/control. For us what changed it was giving him new "responsibilities" and massively celebrating his independence. I think as well (as upsetting as it is) it's best to ignore it as much as possible... for your own sake. I realised with my boy that doing it wasnt actually stressing him. It was just a simple habit. Btw he also did the repeated sound thing for a while too. I'd try not to worry, from others too I've heard kids go through these phases (for whatever reason), and they just often resolve themselves. But in the meantime the "independence" bit, ignoring it, and distracting him are good tactics.
