Private Dyspraxia Assessment?

DyspraxiaQuestion · 30/08/2020 18:47

18 year old DS about to start Uni. I have always suspected he may be dyspraxic, although school never said anything. Sixth form College assessed him for dyslexia on account of his shockingly bad handwriting (this was initiated by one of his teachers) . He wasn't found to be dyslexic but they recommended that he used a laptop in exams. He has a very poor working memory and is extremely disorganised.
I was wondering if it would help if we paid for a private Dyspraxia Assessment before he goes to uni? I assume that if he was diagnosed as having dyspraxia, he might get extra support at uni?

Thanks for any advice.

Yes, if he is assessed privately and diagnosed with dyspraxia, you can ask for the report to contain specific recommendations for the support he would benefit from at university.

Good luck!
