Can anyone point me in the direction of any resources I could use with a teenaged boy with ASD who has just been diagnosed with Diabetes?

Any books or websites to help explain the condition would be grand. And any user friendly record keeping sheets/books.

I’ve had a google but not found anything much except scholarly papers. I wondered if any of you lovely lot had anything that might help?

Hello OP,

What avenue are you interested in? My child does not have Diabetes but he was suspected of it a couple do years ago.

There are Fab Facebook groups for children diagnosed with T1 diabetes. But the focus is very different. If your concerned about nutrition etc and to lower blood sugar, there's a fab Facebook group I can recommend. But in general, you want to lower the amount of carbs your child eats in order for his blood sugar levels to be ok. As well, increasing the amount of exercise.

Theres another focus, where it's more about carb counting and you can let your child eat whatever they want etc. TheDiabetes UK forum is fantastic and will be able to offer great advice as well as information about managing diabetes.

Thank you! I’m not on fb so never thought of there. I’ll get DH to look later.
