Help, really can’t cope with 3 year old, suspected ADHD...

We have 5 DC ranging from 2-15.

Our 3 (soon to be 4) year old is and always has been incredibly hard work, even as a baby.

We’ve had no problems with our other DC other than normal ups and downs.

He’s at pre school and the SENCO there have made a plan for him and are asking for some extra help. I initially approached them. He doesn’t have tantrums there but is very loud, exiteable and impulsive.

I’ve compiled a list of his behaviours:

He will not as what he’s told, it will take numerous requests and eventually threats of the naughty step before he’ll do even the simplest of things. It’s exhausting.

He regularly breaks things (toys, the TV, the hoover)

Makes Loud noises, screams shouts, bangs

Cannot sit still for long

Impulsive - seems to have no control over his actions, his eyes almost ‘glaze over’

Tantrums and meltdowns numerous times a day

Aggression towards siblings when he thinks no one is looking. This is probably the worst thing.

He has firm boundaries and plenty of positive praise but it just doesn’t work and I’m fucking exhausted physically and emotionally as are our other DC.

It almost goes in cycles with no rhyme or reason. He’ll be great and calm for a few days every month or so and I think we’ve turned a corner then it’s back to square one.

Please help.

Hey,

I see no-one replied to your post. I’m just messaging as this sounds like my 3 year old. I’m wondering if your son has improved with age? Actually hoping he has as mine is very exhausting!! 😬 xx

Hello, I’ve seen your reply to the poster but you had no response🤦🏼‍♀️ But your post was now a while ago, how are things now? We are currently going through this with my boy who’s 4 in October, currently waiting for ADHD assessments. Have things calmed down at all for you? Xx
