Hi. My 10 month old boy is very delayed and not reaching milestones. He can roll onto his front but doesn't do it often and only started this at 7 months. He isn't able to sit and therefore is nowhere near crawling/pulling himself up etc.

I'm pretty sure he has cerebral palsy and this is being investigated but I guess I'm looking for any hope I can get. Is there still time for him to sit? At what point do I accept he never will? Is there anyone here with a baby who couldn't do these things at 10 months but now can?

I should add he was a healthy baby at birth, born full term, no problems with the pregnancy so this has been a real shock.

Thank you xx

Hi,

My son is delayed too, he's didn't roll until 7-8 months but now he rolls quite a lot (still gets stuck on his front sometimes) he's started pushing himself up on to his knees too but he falls back down. He can sit up but he's quite wobbly. He also has social delays he's doesn't have a social smile for example. He's been investigated and we are under OT and physio. It's so hard isn't it 😢... but I will say since we've been doing the practises from OT and physio he's improved (physically) a lot and quickly. Have you spoken to an OT and physio? Xx

Hi @Bpr187 thanks for replying. It is so hard and so worrying.
We have been referred for physio and OT but no one has been in touch yet. The consultant said during the week he would chase it up so hopefully I hear soon. That's good to hear that you have noticed improvements. I've been doing my own 'exercises' with him and he is making some progress which is reassuring but still very delayed.
We have an appointment today with neuro as his MRI was clear but there may be something genetic.
I hope you manage to get some answers for your little guy xx

She mentioned an MRI to us too but she said they don't generally like doing them before age 2. We've started the genetic testing though, he had his bloods two weeks ago so waiting for the results. If they don't find anything they will do more detailed genetic tests. I think my son showing early signs of autism, which the consultant said it does look like but obviously can't be sure until he's at least 18 months- 2 years.

Is it just physical concerns you have? Hope you can get to see a physio and OT soon. Xx

@Bpr187 yeah I have heard that too about waiting until they're 2. I wonder if it depends on the area you're in. Also because of COVID it was reasonably quiet so I wonder if that's why they did his now.
The fact they want to see me for the genetics results rather than on the phone makes me think there might be something or they might want to do more tests.
Yeah, mainly physical but there are a few other things. Similar to you, I think I may be looking at autism but in a different way. My boy is quite sociable/smiley but I think I'm already noticing some sensory issues mainly with textures xx
