Dyslexia help

Hi, my son is 7 and has a diagnosis of DLD. He has always struggled with reading and spellings since beginning school. From working with him at home I think he possibly could also have dyslexia. He struggles to sound out words, gets mixed up when writing sentences, leaves out works or half sentence when writing them out. Copies spellings totally wrong when writing them out. He does well in Friday tests as we revise them so much during the week. By the following week it's like starting all over again as he won't remember them. With math he still has to check he's writing numbers correct way around though unsterstands the concept of counting etc. Doesn't understand before or after however
I know at minute there's not much I can do but wondering who I need to go to or get him referred to. We are waiting for a new speech assessment before lockdown happened.

my son (just turned 9) is the same. If we rehearse the words, he remembers, but then forgets the following week. He will not read books in his own age group which makes homeschooling very tiring - I literally have to read all his work instructions and can't just leave him to work independently. He did have a speech issue, but this has improved a lot on its own without any speech therapy.

I have flagged up these issues with his teachers since nursery school, but not much has been done. My son has 30 mins with an EdPsych from school where he does reading, sight words etc, much of what we do at home. Our GP referred us back to the school. The school want us to wait and see if there is any improvement! We have waited long enough.

My issue is that he is in year 4 now and if we carry on like this, it will be a bigger issue when it comes to secondary school.

I would be very grateful if anyone have any advice as to where to go from here?

In my clinical experience, there are lots of reasons why children present with these difficulties. Dyslexia describes the functional difficulties, but doesn’t identify or work on the origins of them. For example, prematurity, birth history, nervous system im/maturity, gravitational security (I.e sensory issues) can all contribute to difficulties with sequencing, tracking, reading, writing, copying and spelling. Identifying the origins of the difficulties means you’ll be able to work on them at the root cause. Unfortunately, a dyslexia diagnosis often only brings with it compensatory rather than remedial strategies.

Hi, unfortunately not at the time and have only this week began the process to try and get him assessed. His difficulties are more evident now as the work gets increasingly harder. He's really struggling. Hes in lowest group for reading and spellings. Today his test took 45mins of tears and he got 5/15
