Dear moms,
Please tell me how long your kids, if diagnosed with autism, took to speak meaningfully in sentences.
My son is not talking even in two words phrases. He completed his third birthday only few days before. He is talking mostly in single words. He knows loads of words (250) and requests in single words. One good thing is he is nolonger handleading us to his wants. He uses single words to ask for it. Still he is not joining words. No two words phrases. I am talking to him adding a word to his words. Still no progress.
My cousin's son who is only 2.10 month, younger to my son by two months, is talking in two to three words sentences. He was not saying anywords till before four month, literally he had no words till dec. When they visited us they too had concern about autism, though she didn't tell directly. His mother was so concerned that he was not saying anything other than mom, not even dad. Last week I saw this boy while doing video chat with his family, talking in two or three words sentences. He was saying ready steady go kick a ball, and then kicked it. He said -give ball- to his sister. when she didn't give, he came to his mom who was talking to me, turned her face to him and said give ball pointing to his sister and saying ,"go away", byebye see you thank you"and many other two or three words sentences.
One way I was happy, his speech progress gave me hope that my boy will also speak like that someday. Next day, I have developed a sad feeling from last three months his speech has not progressed to even two words sentences.
I am doing all I could to make him talk, still his progress is very slow. May I ask how long a child with more vocabularies would take to speak in sentences. I understand each child is different and it applies to spl kids also. Just asking you to share what you had gone through. How long did you wait to converse with them?
