DLA changing to PIP aged 10??

Hi

I have just received a letter telling me that my 10yr old is receiving PIP from April. The value is the same, but I'm confused. His DLA is awarded until he turns 12, and I thought PIP had to be applied for when they turn 16?
Do I need to ring them? Or is this correct please?

No he will continue to receive dla. Pip is from 16 only. The letter they send is some what confusing and states a change to pip but from 16 only.
