ASD Volume Control!

When DS 9 gets excited he gets louder and louder. Shouts when he's 2 foot from you.
At kids groups he can be ridiculously loud.

How do I get him to quieten down?

I was sorely tempted to buy a decibel sound meter when my two were younger.

The one thing that works (sometimes) is the louder they get the quieter we get otherwise it all escalates.

P.S. Just in case you haven't already get his hearing checked as if he has poor hearing he might not know how loud he is being. I expect the way you describe it it is over-stimulation and excitement that is the problem.

My ds does this too. Gets louder and more repetitive the more excited/anxious he is.

Agree with oneineight in trying to be quieter in return.

Sometimes I think ds is trying to drown out other noise so ear defenders work. Could be worth a try?
