My son is turning 5 next month and has a communication delay but no diagnosis (yet).
He's doing fine in reception with reading and writing but is quite a bit behind in terms of communication compared to his peers.
This weekend we had him assessed by a private SALT and she did these 2 tests with him.
On the BPAS (British Picture Vocabulary Scales) he scored on the 34th centile for his age so not too bad and within an age appropriate range.
However on the RAPT (Renfrew Action Picture Test) he scored very poorly and is still at the Level 1 questions.
The SALT thinks he has trouble pulling words and has difficulty organising language. He will be starting speech therapy and we are liasing with the school to get him extra support as well.
I was wondering if anyone had a child with these issues and what was their prognosis? Thank you
