My son is nearly 7 and was put on the SEN register in reception because he has severe anxiety when faced with anything new or challenging. At home this comes out as tears but at school it comes out defiance, anger and sometimes violence. Which has led to the school not giving him the usual schoolwork and he is failing all his lessons.
Everyone involved has hinted at ADHD or ASD but his Connors questionnaire results from the school resulted in him being discharged by the paediatrician as there is no medical need (although the results from my Connors questionnaire were quite the opposite). Has anyone else had a similar experience and have any advice about how I approach the school about teaching him and what to do next so my son can at least attempt to achieve something.
