EHCP Advice

Does anyone know what funding comes attached with a 28hr EHCP? - I can't find an amount anywhere. My son is only just 3, we are hoping he can go the local specialist school as it's outstanding. Due to the reputation, it's always oversubscribed. We were advised he would need a high level EHCP - just wondering if this is sufficient, or a lot? All so confusing thanks

I think you will need to ask for more to go to a specialist provision. 28 hours would be like a FT 1:1 (which, deoending on the SEN, you may find is shared!) but i think (not sure on this) schools pay about 10k from their budget and the LA tops it up.
The way it works is you have to prove that their suggestion wont provide an adequete education rather than your suggestion is better if that makes sense. So youd be looking in your ehcp to see outcomes that wouldnt really be achieved with a 1:1 mainstreaam but woukd be achoeved at a special school. You should have had a chance to nominate a school preference - is thst the stage you are at?

Funding isn't normally your concern: provided that the 1:1 is properly specified, the local authority has to provide sufficient funding to cover it. You do however need to ensure that it is clear that the 1:1 support is solely for your child and the working of section F of the EHCP doesn't leave room for other interpretations.
