Hi,
I am a newbie here.

I am wondering if there is any mom who's child is diagnosed with Global development Delay?
How old is your child now and how old he/she was when diagnosed for the 1st time?
How is the development so far?

Thanks!

Hi,

My son was diagnosed with gdd at 20 months. He is now nearly 10. For us and as it often is it was a stop gap diagnosis until the cause was found and he was diagnosed with asd and a severe learning disability.

He has developed far slower than his peers but has made good progress in most areas.

Glad to hear that he made a good progress. May I ask when he started to speak?

My daughter was 2 yrs old when I heard the GDD for the 1st time.
She is now 4, still develops but slow ( about a year or a year and half behind).
In my case, her main reason for the delay is the visual impairment so far.

I think everyone's version of progress is going to varie significantly. My son is still largely non verbal (said his first few words at 9.5 years, 3 words that are consistent). He does communicate well via a communication aid which all considering is exceptional progress for him. His autism and learning disabilities are severe, he has definitely surpassed what we where told he would achieve.

Yes, you are totally right.

Thank you for telling me that he surpassed what you were told.
Gives me hope too for my child.
