Aghh Bloody fed up!

DS1's new interest is creams and anything else he can lay his hands on. yesterday he coated himself in sudocreme. Today he coated himself, dh (trying to clean him up), the carpets and the walls in sudocreme. I hid what was left of the tub and put him to bed. He was shouting and screaming so went to see what was up and he had coated himself the carpet and the walls in shampoo. FFS. There's a massive handprint shape on the walls. His legs are covered, but there is no way I am bathing him (can imagine that will suddenly be a routine- 2 baths at bedtime, one after his brothers are asleep- not a chance)

I am meant to be sodding working (close to deadline for report now), not cleaning up bloody walls and carpets from a destructive 8 year old.

Dh is out. I would have some wine but I feel ill.

He is shouting again and I don't even want to go and see what he's done this time.

gess, you have my sympathies- if you know he can't get hold of anything thats going to be harmful then let him shout.
ds2 LOVES creams & smearing them, if he can't get his hands on anything he just spits & smears but this has means he's also developed a love of spitting.

If you can't face wine what about Beer

Hi there. I would have the wine!! Might help you to ignore the shouting . Presumably its a sensory issue? Can't you give him something 'slippery' to feel and rub over the walls etc. Only thing I can think of is a plastic bag - a bit dangerous though! A plastic glove maybe? Like the ones you get for putting a colour on your hair.Sorry I've no better ideas- have had a glass of wine myself

He smells of shampoo. Very calm now- there's a big firework display here tonight and there's a great veiw from his bedroom window just been watching it with him.

he's had washing up liquid obsessions in the past, but this is out of the blue new! Need to adapt house again!

why not wait till bath nights and get him some 'special' shower gell that he can only put on when he's in the bath and that might stop his obsession with putting creams, lotions etc on when he's not in the bath .
Obviously not knowing your son i can only guess
if this will work or let him have a little dip into some moisturiser before bed and let him rub a little on before you take it away? if you find a good 1 and it keeps him looking young please let me know

He has emollient anyway for his eczema (and he has lotion at school as a way of relaxing him). He's not very good at distinguishing been allowed and not allowed.

gOD HOPE THE FIREWORKS AINT ANYWHERE NEAR ME my dd ok but my rescue dog has soooo many issues fireworks being 1.
You have my sympathy Eczema is alot to deal with especially on these warm nights.
keep ya cool summer half term always a nightmare.

ds2 also likes cleaning, so when he's anxious & pacing & spitting/smearing i give him a little bowl of water with washing up liquid & a J cloth & he cleans my floor
This OCD/ASD does have some advantages.

Could the "something slippery" be a nice quantity of silky fabric? Safe and non messy. And washable.

we have a lock on the outside of our bathroom to keep DS from the bubble bath toothpaste shaving foam and anything else spreadable

Well Gess you might be fed up, but reading your post made me smile and think well at least we're not the only ones!!

So to make you feel the same I will say only this. I wish it was sudo cream that my ds was smearing all over himself like a body lotion when I went to check on him this evening LOL

DS1 unfortunatley can reach wardrobes. We currently have to rotate appple hiding places, in the pastic bag box, in the washing, in the cupboard, shoved beneath papers The problems begin if someone else has moved the apple hiding place.....

OJ I am so dense tonight- we have an external bathroom lock as well! Durr. Not sure how well that will go down but will give it a go.

THanks for all the ideas. I did go up and massage his legs when we were watching fireworks and when I stopped he wanted me to do it again so I guess it must be a sensory thing. I had completely forgot school gave him lotion massage sessions so he may be missing that. Will try one each day.

Oh dear Graciefer; you have my sympathies... Used to get a bit of that- I would have sobbed! Have you got anywhere with the full time business?

oh deart my grammar seems to have gone to pot- am very tired- and when not living autism have been writing about it this evening, so no chance!

Oh God Graciefer - us too (tonight, last night and all over my mum's new cushions the day before). My mum is so great though - she just said 'oh, those cushion covers will wash in the machine' and took him upstairs for a bath. I haven't inherited her calmness genes unfortunately...

oh gess - you have my sympathies too - dd2 went through this - we had to put up all the baby cream, nappy cream etc high in a cupboard. So she transferred her interest to the soap in a pump!!!

I think you may have hit on it though - if he has those regular sessions at school and is now on holidays - he may be missing that.
