Hi

Has any one recently sent a DLA form away and how long did it take to get a decision? I sent ours away last Thursday (18th) so was expecting a text by now to say they've received it.

Thanks x

ours was renewed in February 19, we sent it off well in advance but the decision makers leave it until the last minute. We got a text to say it was being received but it took 10 weeks to process and it was a couple of days before it ran out.
My DS has a lifelong condition but we have to reapply again in two years time?
Is it a first claim or a renewal?

Wow that's a long wait!! It's a first claim so I'm guessing I'll have an even longer wait. It's not the stress that you need is it?

Hi I have recently sent a claim off and we received a letter approx 10days after sending it just acknowledging that they had received it. I have since called to see how long it will be and was advised new claims are taking about 8 weeks.

@Mum1405 thanks, god they take their time don't they. Fingers crossed it goes through okay and I don't need to appeal.

Yes they certainly do. I know that feeling, I keep thinking the same.

It's just the form took so long to fill out and it was just a nightmare to be honest so the last thing I want is to wait weeks to be told they've refused it! I'm wanting to use the money for swimming lessons/extra physio etc etc.

Okay so phoned on Thursday 3rd Oct and said thy only received the form on the 30th sept...I sent it on the 18th Hmm12 days for them to get it! But according to the call handler this is normal not really convinced by that.

I am told that I'll get a text within the 2 weeks from the 30th to say they got it and it'll be approx another 8 weeks for a decision.

Similar; posted c 3rd July, text on the 7th August. Holding letter early September, saying they had received it on the 23rd July, so not sure how it took 3 weeks to reach them. Decision letter late September.

plinkyblonk · 10/10/2019 08:18

@Medee yeah seems a bit of an excuse...think they have a backlog but instead of being honest are saying they didn't get it delivered until such and such a date. I got my text yesterday so here's hoping I hear by the end of the 8 weeks not holding much hope though with everything I've been reading

We sent our application the end of August and found out this week. So for us it took 6 weeks.
