Our son has Aspergers and currently qualifies for higher rate care component and has done for the past 5 years. He still requires round the clock care for his own safety, can't be left on his own, will be unable to catch a bus to school on his own when he starts high school etc. I'm thinking that the only option for when he starts high school is for me to give up work as we don't have any wraparound care for him, he is unable to make his own way to and from school and wouldn't be able to be in the house on his own. Has anyone renewed and had a higher rate of care reduced as a result?

We renewed this year for my son. After 8 years of higher rate care they reduced him to middle (and also reduced his mobility). We went to appeal and they gave in before we got to the hearing.
