EHCP Draft - legal advice/checking service?

We are (most likely) due a draft in Sept and I would like to get it checked professionally to make sure it is water tight.

Any advice - is it enough to book an appt with a charity like SOSSEN/IPSEA or are they very over subscribed?

I am in a position to pay a legal professional - I'm sure there have been firms/individuals mentioned on here. Any recommendations?

Part of me wants to do this so the LA can see that I mean business now and in the future! So far have done everything myself with good advice on here.

Just checking - the 15 days We have to respond to draft - can I extend this? Going to ask for an extra week. Any legal info on this welcome. I'm sure I read that this was the minimum they are allowed to give you. Do I have a right to have more time to check it and respond?

You can ask for more time, but the LA is supposed to finalise the EHCP within 20 weeks of when you first asked for it (or 14 weeks from when they agreed to assess).

Yeah, we are already over time. They were going to tell me in summer but I said I wanted it to be in term time so I can talk to school and access advice. I suspect they haven't asked for specific advice either so I'm not holding my breath we are going to conclude this within the 20w timescale.

He has funding in place so am happy to take my time and get a well written EHCP.

SOSSEN did a great job. I mean I went through it with a toothcomb, but they found more errors and things omitted. They are awesome.
