Hi guys just wondered is it possible to have a private asd diagnosis added to an ehcp as I know sometimes they dont except them as an official diagnosis my son has an ehcp in place but hes Currantly not at school as we are appealing against against a denial for a specialist school he cant cope in mainstream

I have heard people use private diagnosis to push for NHS one, which may hold more sway with LA (should not do, but LA's can try it on)

Alsoif you get to tribunals I think LA has to take on board a private diagnosis whether they like or not. SOSSEN or IPSEA may be able to confirm this, but its what I have heard here on the boards x

Could you get to see paediatrician via GP on strength of your private diagnosis? Explain to them why you want to seek NHS diagnosis - because it will make it easier to fight for the best outcomes for your child. That is in everyone's interests - unless they fancy an unhappy older child/teen coming back to them down the line!
