I organise bookfairs at school dd1 attends. There are quite a few children who are dyslexic and apart from choosing books for a younger age group the company we use have no advice.Has anyone had the same problem? Any advice or direction would be most appreciated.

Softie - we've had books before from Barrington Stoke, they're called 4U2Read (?). They are in easy to read print but the content is aimed a bit higher IYSWIM. I'll have a look for the site. They are aimed at reluctant readers, mainly boys I think.

The site is here

Hope it's of use.

Luckymum, thanks for the info. Barrington Stokes seem to offer just what I'm looking for. I'll now liase with special needs teacher at school and order some books.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Softie.

There are lots of other authors who are ideal for 'reluctant readers' - easy to read but older content
try jeremy strong as a starting point
better than the barrington stokes ones IMO

Our local waterstones has a reluctant readers section......maybe your may too

My son absolutely adores the Barrington Stoke books. He's just 9 and, until recently was fed up with the fact that a lower reading age of nearly 8 meant that all the books available to him were really boring in terms of subject matter. Try your local library - we have exhausted the stock of ours. The reason he likes them is that they are pacy, interesting stories with more mature storylines and characters.
