DLA renewal wait times?

Recently applied for DS1's DLA to be renewed. It's been 4 weeks waiting so far, when I phoned last week they said it could take up to 8 weeks. I phoned today and they're now saying up to 18 weeks?

Has anyone renewed recently? How long did it take for a decision?

I sent my PIP renewal off last November and haven't heard back yet

I know PIP is taking forever ATM, just had to do my dad's renewal but I thought DLA was a totally different department? I could be wrong.

Sent my dd's at the end of November (it runs out next week). Had to ring up today to check & they've only just made a decision,& it's not a good one
Apparently they are only making a decision in the last 2 weeks of the claim.

This is the first time I've renewed, I had no idea the wait times are so long and our award runs out next month 😔 I wish I had sent it sooner.

If our award is suspended, we'll lose our tax credit disability element. If the DLA is reinstated will the tax credits be back-dated, does anyone know?

It's taking forever, at the moment. Sent ds2's off in January (it arrived on the last day of term, before christmas🤬) and still waiting. Still have 6 weeks before it runs out, though, so from what I've seen, I'm not going to be stalking the postie.

And, yeah, he gets hrc so that's a bloody hassle with tax credits if they don't pull their fingers out as we'd lose both disabled child and severely disabled child element.

Ours took 13 weeks, dealt with one day before it expired. A bit odd as the original award was just lengthed and adjusted ( by6yrs to hrc), not a new one. Got a CoC reply and quite a bit of backdating
