So I have two children on the ASD pathway been told by SENCO at school and nursery to apply for DLA as that would open doors for them I’m unsure to be honest as I don’t have any concrete diagnosis just yet?!
Please advice

You don’t need a diagnosis. It’s needs based.

As previous posters have said, it's needs based so you don't need a diagnosis. And definitely check out the cerebra guide before applying. I found it very difficult filling out the forms and listing all the difficulties we have day to day, I didn't actually realise how much "extra" we have to do until I saw it all written down. But it was worth it and has made a real difference to us and the aids we have got for him and extra places and therapy we have accessed.
