DLA running out- what happens?

My ds's DLA runs out in 2 weeks and I'm starting to panic slightly as I can't seem to get a straight answer about what happens if they don't look at it before the renewal date.
I know carers will stop.
Will my universal credit stop too?

I am panicking that I'll have to reapply for uc and be left with £34.40 a week till goodness knows when.

Thank you

This happened to me recently so I rang DWP, I was told that they are renewing just a few days before renewal. Mine ran out on 10 Feb and I got a renewal letter through the day before. I would give them a call

Thank you. I did ring them on Monday and she said that they're being looked at in the order they receive them and that it can take another 6 weeks. Hopefully not!

Mine Dd’s ran out while it was still waiting to be seen-took 3 months!!
I still got my payments while I was waiting. It was renewed at the same rate.

My not mine! 🙄

See the woman on the phone said they won't continue to pay if it's not looked at before it runs out, that it would be backdated if he was awarded again so now I'm confused! I've had a letter saying carers stops in 3 weeks unless renewal completed and UC told me on the phone today that I'll have to reapply as a job seeker.

I can see this being fun 🙄

Oh that does sound so stressful. I don’t really know all the ins and outs -really hoping they get to your claim ASAP
