I wonder if anyone can help?
I'm totally lost with what help is available for our dd 8 years old.
I will try my best not to drip feed but it's quite complexed.
Dd is currently on the autism pathway and waiting for observations, reports etc. We are bit old hat at this as our eldest (14) has asd and is in special school. We are as certain as can be dd has autism. There are also 2 genetic issues (son) at play and she is waiting to be tested. Both are linked heavily to autism.
My daughter though is struggling at school because of other issues. She is incontinent - has daytime and night time enuresis and is currently at hospital once a month for urodynamics. She doesn't realise she is wet and even the hospital (well known childrens) have said they think they can see asd traits.
My daughter is wet daily despite medication and now because of daily antibiotic for monthly urine infections, has faecal impaction.
The school at first didn't see autism but we've luckily got them on our side and given all the jigsaw pieces they are willing to trust us. Dd is like the can of fizzy pop analogy. Holds it in the explodes at home/car. They are struggling with the incontinence and would like guidance. DD also has hypermobility (scores 8 out of 9 on Beighton test) and we are awaiting further test to see if she has tarsal coalition (her brother has) due to constant cramps. She falls almost every day at school.
The head is willing to take dd case to Ed psych and try and get a EHCP. I highly doubt we will as she is undiagnosed and it would be more on health grounds as she is intelligent. However she isn't coping at school mentally at the moment and could it be argued that while on the toilet (a lot) she isn't learning?
She is currently off school due to impaction. She had a poo accident and didn't tell anyone. She can have poo stuck in bottom and doesn't seem to feel it. Something I need to discuss with the hospital. Maybe nerve damage?
The head has also spoke to school nurse and has said they can apply for an SA NDP (I've no idea what this entails though)
Sorry been long winded. We are desperate for help with dd. There is loads more but not really relevant to school.
Any help or advice would be most appreciated.
