Hi, can anyone offer any advice for social interaction support for a boy aged 8, awaiting dx for aspergers/ASD? School aren't offering any support at present and he's increasingly outwith the norm which is causing him distress. Any compulsory group activities make him really anxious. Social stories have been suggested, but don't really seem appropriate.

I'm not too sure what other support I should be asking for? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

For my son, informing him of what to expect in group situations beforehand eases anxiety. Also having an exit strategy when he gets too overwhelmed. Just knowing he can exit, is often enough to support him in participating.
