standard vs stability

Hi again,
I KNOW I keep asking questions about this and I'm sorry - if you are getting bored - ignore me!!! BUT....

Can anyone tell me the difference between standard piedro boots and stability piedro boots?
You may (or may not) know that I have noticed my ds's ankles are still rolling in even when wearing his boots....I have looked up the code number of his boots on the internet and he's wearing standard ones - wheras I've noticed most of you on here talk about stability ones.

DS is now wearing his 2nd pair of boots and I can still see a slight 'roll' inwards - and this is the 1st day he's had the new ones on - so can't be blamed on the leather softening.

I think the stability boots come slightly higher, have different width fittings and are stiffer. they also have those eyelet things on which make them easier to get on and off and lace. HTH

The ones he has have got eyelets?
He has got these....Standard boots
So the stability ones will be a bit stiffer and higher then?

oh! i think those are the ones my dd has Blush i dont know they all look the same to me. Why dont you ask the shoe man, I am sure he wont mind

I don't actually know what DS's are, but I suspect stability.
What does your orthotist say about it?

slightlymad · 02/09/2004 11:47

I havn't asked him yet!!!
I was waiting to see what happened once he got into these new ones - but I suspect the same is going to happen.

Just to say - I have phoned the orthotics department and they will send DS a review appointment for the orthotics clinic.
His ankles ARE still rolling in the new boots and he's complaining the new ones hurt him as well.
His speech therapist actually noticed the ankle roll yesterday - and I hadn't even mentioned anything - she said he may need splints as well??

yes thats what they said about dd, but decided to try her in heel cups first, which they cast for. they are plastic inserts for the boots that fit the foot and part of the ankle properly. The splint is just an extra piece of plastic that keeps the ankle straight iykwim

slightlymad · 07/09/2004 11:33

So the splints still stay inside the boot then??? They don't come over the tops at all?

OP posts:
fio2 · 07/09/2004 11:35

no they stay inside the boot. I think even the higher ones are covered with socks, and the plastic is see through

Thanks Fio2.....at least I know what to ask about when I go now!
