DD2 is finally getting her ASD assessment!

I first took DD2 to the paediatrician re. ASD when she was 5. She went through 3 schools and HE and is now in Secondary School. Finally, Primary School 3 agreed that she showed ASD traits and supported referral for assessment. That was in December 2016. In July 2017 she was seen by CAMHS and they agreed she probably has ASD and needed ADOS, etc., so would be put on the formal waiting list, and there she has sat.

Well, CAMHS have given up, and a private company have taken over. 2 weeks ago I got paperwork through, asking for an online questionnaire to be completed by us and the school. Today, I got a phonecall offering appointments for the ADOS and the interview. So by 1/12/18 we should have an idea of whether DD2 will get an ASD dx or not.

Wow, that's a long wait (especially when it sounds like there were problems if you went through three schools and HE?)

I hope she's doing well now and that the assessment gives you the answers you need. Is her secondary school supportive?

Yes, she fell apart in her first school in year 1, moved to another school and coped for a while, then, but fell apart in year 2, so after trying interventions, with withdrew to home educate. Then we found a small school, enrolled her there, they agreed they thought she had ASD traits, we referred for assessment and in the meantime she's moved on to Secondary.
