DD attends a mainstream school with attached autism unit. She has lessons in both main classroom & unit during day.
This morning I was told by a fellow parent that a group of moms has complained to the class teacher about the special needs kids & that therefore they are not being stimulated enough! I am fuming!
What gives them the right to a better education? What about inclusivity?
Part of learning includes soft skills, like understanding more about autism, empathy & acceptance.
If their kids are not stimulated enough then maybe they should look for extra curricular activities?!
Just last week I had a new with the teacher who said she was doing well, no meltdowns or disruptions.
Wandering if I should contact the head teacher & speak to them - the school must not even entertain these parents. Autism awareness training would be great, not that I think these parents would bother with that.
Oh how I would love them to walk a day in my shoes & experience the worries we have.
