Stranger Shouting at my Autistic child

My autistic boy and I suffered horrible abuse from a woman and her boyfriend in the park today after her dog chased my boy on his bike. She went mad when he started crying and getting upset (whilst trying to ride away) and then verbally abused us both when I tried to explain he was autistic and frightened. She then threatened to hit him after he had a major meltdown because of her yelling and the dog barking so we had to call the police. Utterly shocking.

Oh my god that’s disgusting! What a sick individual threatening a child with special needs. I can’t imagine how horrible that must have been for u both.

Did the police do anything?

May I add not just a child with special needs any child, it’s not unusual for a child to be scared of dogs!😤

What a vile woman. Sad to say we've had more and more verbal abuse as the kids have got bigger. We've also been treated with kindness by many people but that doesn't undo the distress caused by someone effing and blinding at you or threatening to kick your child all the way to school for a random frustrated scream.

She went mad? Perhaps she should have her dog under control (as per the law)
And yes. I’m a dog owner.

What did the police do?

ASDmum6 · 06/10/2018 07:41

The police said she could be charged with a public order offence (if they caught her) but as she had gone by the time they got to us, they could do was open (and then close!) a file and take the photos. It’s logged anyway so if it happens to someone else then they are likely to press charges. My poor boy said when we got home “Mummy, I did not have a good Park day today...”. We told school also.

It is wonderful that some people are able to show such kindness and help in that situation. Sad world that not everyone is as understanding..

I man once screamed "shut the f u" in my daughters face. She was 8 the police did nothing we had to be rehoused as she took to hiding in the cupboard because she thought he would come and get her. Some people are just scum.

A woman screamed at my son in a supermarket car park once. He opened the car door into hers. I only tell him every single time he gets out the car. I was having a good day I sent him to wait in the foyer and calmly asked if there was any damage to which she shouted some more. I looked myself and there clearly wasn’t. I then said ‘he has autism what’s your excuse?’ and left.
