ASD - Small Nurture Group vs 1-1 Support? KS2

Hi all,
We are in a tricky situation with DD age 7 struggling emotionally and academically at school. She is almost freezing up and downing tools now and has not transitioned well into new Yr group, not bonded well with t/a or teacher at all.

Just from experience, in this situation, has a small group helped your child or is 1-1 the way to go do we think?

We’ve now had some school refusal and I’m so concerned. SenCo and school are supportive and have offered these options - but i appreciate 1-1 is sometimes tricky provision wise and we do not (yet) have an EHCP, although may need one.

Worried 😞

Forgot to say, she’s high functioning, but also has Selective Mutism so cant always speak at school

It sounds like School are pretty supportive so I would let them make the call. It may be a mix of the two is best depending on what is happening (and sadly with no EHCP, available staff and funding)

If it’s at the point of thinking the extra support is needed I would get the ball rolling for the EHCP
