I’ll try to be brief. Dd is 15, has asd. Any ideas on how to help her sleep? She’s been a poor sleeper for quite some years now but is getting worse. She struggles to fall asleep then can’t stay asleep. She’s just not functioning on so little sleep.
We’ve tried melatonin ... in the early days it helped her fall asleep but didn’t keep her asleep. She was taken off that and now not allowed back into the CYPS service. A year later, our GP prescribed melatonin .. but now it makes her feel sick all night and makes her sleep paralysis much worse so she doesn’t take it any longer.
We’ve tried various lighting, candles, scents, sleep app music/sounds, room temperature, baths, reading, drawing, colouring etc .... nothing helps to wind her mind down. GP now says it’s all about sleep hygiene ... learning not to think about things
... like it’s that easy!
Any tips?
