My Daughter had Meningitis at 8 months, she is now nearly 3.

Just wondered if there was anybody else who's child has had it,

Or Hydrocephalus, Infantile Spasms?

Just finding all your posts!

My dd has infantile spasms. She didn't have meningitis but has a genetic condition known as Aicardi Syndrome which is what causes hers.

I think internationalgirl's dd also had infantile spasms when she was younger.

Are your dd's spasms under control? Mine still has about 2-3 episodes a day but very mild.

We were fortunate and the spasms were under control straight away on 1ml of Nitrazapam.

She has been Seizure free since Christmas day 2002 (what a great present!!) and she will be weaned off the Nitrazapam this Christmas.

I am dreading it!!

How is your Daughter doing?

Great that your dd is seizure free atm. Understand your concerns about the weaning off but am pretty sure International's dd was successfully weaned off meds (don't know what she was on) and still seizure free. The advice I have heard is just to do it really really slowly, maybe even slower than the doctors suggest.

My dd is doing really well considering her problems. She is on a real cocktail of meds to control her seizures which should apparently mean she is pretty much knocked out most of the time but instead she is the most alert, sparky little girl and learning loads at the moment. Surprising all the doctors too !

Great that your dd is also doing well, it is nice when they do better than expexted!!

We go and see the Neuro Surgeon that did Ellies Shunt on Thursday. He is going to get a shock. We saw him last year and then she wasn't crawling, this time she will walk in on her own and can say "Hello Doctor"!!!!!!!!!
