What repetitive or obsessive behaviours do they have, if at all?

I must admit she is a totally different person there so happy and outgoing .

DD is 12 and is quite awesome ;)

DD is 18. Her main obsessions are astrophysics and Pokemon. She can also talk forever about Doctor Who and Harry Potter which I can keep up with, and some online game that's a bit like the sims, which I nod and smile at.

I'm also aspie and could talk to you forever about the Mitford sisters.

Dd talks about genitals a lot and how long her hair is. It always has to be longer than anyone else’s otherwise she gets sooo cross.

She also adores a Disney character, to extremes. She often says she really is that character and gets cross if you don’t play along

For a long time is was My Little Pony. Totally obsessed! We went to a Brony convention (bronies are young men that love MLP) before diagnosis, and I realised that it was really just an autism convention.

Apparently it is a common obsession because they learn about friendship from the cartoons!

My DD went through a massive the My Little Pony phrase when she was younger! She still secretly watches it from time to time, and we went to see the movie last year, but she won't talk about it any more because the kids at school were laughing at her :(

My 10 year girl with ASD loves My Little Pony. She’s a bit embarrassed as it’s ‘girly’. She says she likes the style of animation. She also loves graphic novels and reading in general. Jacqueline Wilson is a fave.

She doesn’t talk too much about her interests as they are her quiet escape from overload.

Any recommendations for 10/11 year appropriate anime? Already discovering graphic novels and Studio Ghibli.

I'm not sure if I should post but I work within the educational sector and theyres a lot of you guys people who have ASD who are into anime. Does anyone know why anime and those who are on the spectrum love it so much?

I think its because in anime or any type of comic, there's a visual element to the story, - and lots of people with ASD have a strong visual preference for learning/interacting.
Which is why visuals, PECS, visual timetables are often recommended when supporting children with ASD.

I may start introducing her to anime.

My DD’s is her hair, but not in a good way.

Then it’s just YouTube, watching people unwrap stuff, watching girls do gymnastics etc. She’s been obsessed with YouTube in general for 4/5 years. She’s 8.
