My DS has a very loose statement that covers the fact that he might be ASD or he might have a Speech disorder. He has certain characteristics that fall within an ASD 'label' but everyone, specialist A B and C, class teacher, Speech and Language therapist seems to stop short of being able to say he is definitely autistic. The label doesn't quite fit. At home we couldn't care what label he has but in terms of getting help and schooling and challenging LEA's, labels do help. From what I have read on the internet I wondered what a PDD label covered. It seems to me that it is a term that is used for children that have autistic traits but, maybe, don't tick all the boxes. It would be used for a child who you would want to say is mildly autistic. Sorry for the ramble. I am just interested to know how common this label is and what, in others' experiences, it covers.
