Annual review

We have our first annual review in May and am not really sure what to expect or how to prepare. School have confirmed the date and are arranging for the various professionals to attend or write reports and have asked us to meet up to review and to give our thoughts. Is that the usual process? I don't think our existing plan is specific enough can we try and rectify that at this review?

Yes this is the usual as far as I know.
The review allows for adjustments.

Yes, this is usual. You will need to fill in the parent's questionnaire and all the paperwork should be distributed 14 days prior to the meeting to those attending. Post meeting, the school will produce another form, which is effectively minutes of the meeting. Personally, I always also write my own, as the school always like to show themselves as brilliant, which in our case, I don't tend to agree with you will need to highlight parts of the EHCP which you don't feel are working and evidence needs to support why you need the wording (provision) changed. All the paperwork is then submitted to the LA who THEN conduct the review and you will then hear in writing whether they are going to maintain as is, change or whatever. I would speak to your case officer before the meeting so that they are aware and hopefully attend if you want big changes.
