Private diagnosis

DS aged 13 has asked if he is ADHD and has been doing questionnaires on line. When he told us and we discussed it he says he would like to be diagnosed. He is unaware that we had always presumed he was ASD but when we had tried to get him diagnosed many years ago via CAMHS we were told it was our parenting and that he was just gifted - they did WISC 4 test and he scored an overall average score in the top 1% despite poor digit span and processing. DS is unaware of any of this as he was too young to remember. We would never go down the NHS route again due to the trauma their accusations caused so we are interested in experiences of going private and also experiences where the child has initiated diagnosis and how they have coped if diagnosis is not what they anticipated. Thanks.
