School behaviour changed towards us

Hello I posted before Christmas about our ds with adhd and/or sensory traits and our rocky (awful) start to school life, not least due to other parents. We are in the fortunate position that we had some savings to pay to see and Ed Psychologist privately which happened quickly... For some reason the school have turned from all kind (but never the less on our case about ds) to really defensive /obstructive. They've not been that helpful to Psychologist. Not openly obstructive but not helpful...for example missing a deadline they had agreed to, which meant we wasted an expensive appointment. We aren't rich by any stretch of the imagination!
Is this normal?!
My dp thinks they are worried about how they will come put of this...and about what they will be asked to do.
Any thoughts?

Maybe because you brought a private EP instead of waiting for the LA one. LAs aren't normally very keen on private assessments.

Thanks

We didn't set out to get an EP. But after talking to therapy centre they recommended this. We thought therapy tbh. The centre was recommended by a social worker friend. School can't have it all ways....wanting us to suggest what to do with ds and then bring annoyed when we try to find help. It'll make things better for ds hopefully but now it's made school worse! Wasn't prepared for how thick skinned we are going to need to become!

Welcome to the world of SEN. If you want the right support for your child, be prepared to ask awkward questions, to do battle and generally be a "difficult" parent. Been there and got the T shirt.

But you will get plenty of support on here.

Also good advice and info here:

and here:

Good luck. Flowers
