Hello, my son is very bright but has loads of issues and a language arp has been mentioned a few times (due to servere expressive language disorder etc). His current school has been pretty crap, I seem to have to fight for every intervention and they don’t seem to be experienced/motivated. (But it is a great school if you are a bright mainstream kid). So I’m beginning to think it is the way forward but I’m terrified about doing ‘the right thing’ for him as I know the transition would be v hard.
Do you have any experiences you could share with me about Language ARPS? (Good or bad)

My main concerns are

  • transition without friends and siblings
  • getting everyone where they need to be (3 kids)
  • how would I explain it to him without him feeling awful?
  • will the pros Outway the cons
  • will he stay there or will it be temporary?
  • what do they do to settle him in and help him make friends?

He’s in year 1 if that’s relevant.

Thanks in advance. Xx
