my friend has been offered dp so that she can have a carer come in.
will she have to pay insurance?

Yes, but that's included in the money they give you. There's only one company that cover dp PA's as they're called. (personal assistants)- whoever is sorting out her dp's should give her all the info.

We were given all that info when we set up our DPs. We use Fish Insurance (can't remember where they are but could check). As Gess says, it is all covered in the overall budget.

gess · 26/04/2007 20:19

yep that's the one- fish.....

2shoes · 26/04/2007 21:26

ahh so ss pay for it

not directly- it comes out of the direct payments money you receive, but that's factored in.

we have fish insurance but we did not have to pay for it, SS did.

onlyjoking9329 · 26/04/2007 21:32

gess · 26/04/2007 21:33

oh we have that, but I am useless at phoning the payroll people on time, and as for paying tax...... which reminds me........

onlyjoking9329 · 26/04/2007 21:36

yes i am always late too

gess · 26/04/2007 21:37

oh god I hate it, was mortified the first time I got a red tax bill! Last year we got a £250 payment (to keep and spend on ourselves) because our payroll people did our year end tax return online!!!

onlyjoking9329 · 26/04/2007 21:39

i always pay the tax, i was told about a payment for them doing it online but i haven't had a payment, wonder why that is?

onlyjoking9329 · 26/04/2007 21:40

SW is trying to get our DP changed to 20+ hours per month per child, fingers crossed.

gess · 26/04/2007 21:46

I expect you need it at the moment, hope they do!

Apparently our SS initially tried to keep all the 250 payments, but then a worker from the support team said it was wrong so they changed their mind. Had no idea it was coming, was a nice suprise!

onlyjoking9329 · 26/04/2007 21:50

need all the help we can get, SS have 2 families lined up for emergency respite, we are meeting one family tomorrow.
