Education Career Help

Hi can anyone tell me what qualifications I would need to work with autistic children. I would like to work closely with them, not in a school setting but more as a support role. (Diagnosing etc).

I'm currently level 3 qualified to work with children, and a degree in social inclusion, and work in a nursery setting. I've been working closely with an autistic child and have really enjoyed this and would like to take it further in my career.

Any help would be fab.x

You would need to qualify in one of the professional roles which are involved in diagnosis. These are, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, or educational psychology. For educational psychology you need either a bachelor's degree in psychology, or a related course which would allow you to take a one year foundation year, before training to become an educational psychologist.
