Yesterday DD got very very bad pains with constipation she's been suffering with for a week, I'd been giving her all the normal medication she normally has (she suffers a lot due to her condition) But she took a really bad turn for the worse, it was terrifying how quickly it happened, one minute she had a few niggly pains, next she was screaming in agony and writhing about, vomiting continuously and was becoming confused and disorientated
I rushed her straight into hospital where they found that she is very seriously constipated, she is completely blocked solid, and it is all compacted and rock hard, it must have been building up for a very long time! The reason she was so poorly is because she was very dehydrated because of it.
They have put her on a drip to rehydrate her, but the Dr has said that instead of taking her to surgery and "clearing" her out, he is going to just continue the medication I was giving her at home and see how she goes!! I told him over and over again, that she has had the max doses from me for a week now, not to mention this has obvioulsy been building for a while during which time I can garantee she has had this medication for extended periods of time too, and that it ISN'T WORKING!!!!! All falling on deaf ears, I am so angry and don't know what to do, they want to leave DD for at least three days and give her a chance to clear herself poor baby is in so much pain, for which all they are giving her is calpol! It's killing me to see her go through this, knowing that they can do something about it and won't
I can understand the Dr wants to leave a general anaesthetic as a last resort, but as far as I can see, it had come to that when I had to rush her in there!
I am so stressed an worried and sad for DD, she's with her daddy tonight, I was ordered home to rest! I think he realised I was probably a risk to the Dr's health! lol
Sorry for long rant, but am so wound up and scared for my baby
