Loud stimming - coping techniques?

DS is 6 and non-verbal but oh my he is loud. I've a 15 month old too and the combination of baby whining and DS loud stimming in the forms of screams is really getting me down.

Anyone experienced similar and have any suggestions on how to cope? I keep losing it with him and telling him to shut up and I really don't want that to be the message he hears

Could you try wearing ear defenders at times when it's bad? Or ear plugs?

Didn't realise there had been some replies! Thank you though, really good suggestions, will try the ear defenders when particularly bad.
