I don't believe this is the only link to autism. I do believe that a genetic susceptibility is the basis, and that many environmental things can trigger it, but it's blind to not see that vaccines can and do contribute to those vulnerable. Also, to other issues like auto-immune disorders, asthma, eczema, and allergies, among other issues.

Why could is also not be:

Increased processed food
Increased traffic
Increased size of schools
Changes to the how schools are run
Increased computer use
Increased obesity
Increased consumption of sugary foods
Increased age of pregnancy
Increased number of multiple births
Decreased amount of exercise

Just a few which come to mind when I think of changes in the last fifteen years and I am sure I could come up with many, many others.

Correlation does not mean causation.

I didn't notice any change in him after the MMR but there were so many things I didn't notice at the time.

What zzzzz and Polter said.

Plus that article is over a year old and the some of the quotes are from 2006 from a retired doctor with no background in autism who The DM likes to wheel out from time to time to say stuff like so my MIL can then send me a newspaper clipping that I will put straight in the bin, because it's all been thoroughly and scientifically disproved

Over 24 hours later and OP hasn't returned. There's always something odd when someone makes an OP like this and disappears. Of course, perhaps the OP is very busy (but then why start a controversial thread?), or perhaps the OP is being provocative, or maybe they're a troll. Who knows?

Not a troll. Fairly new to the site, and checking it isn't habit yet. Being new, I was putting out feelers to see if there are any like minded souls here on MN.

Not my intention to dig deep into debate, as I've invested countless hours over the past 13 years doing so, and not only is it exhausting, but very rarely do I see anyone's thoughts swayed.

That being said...

One... I do believe many of those things can be factors as well, I just don't believe that science has actually, and without bias, ruled out vaccines as one of multiple factors.

Zzzz I hold absolutely no judgement on the choices others make on this, as it is a very tricky, personal thing, with risks and benefits on the whole spectrum from no vaccines at all, to all on schedule and everywhere in between. I have no doubt we all love and hug our babies the same ❤️

And yes, I do believe that that whole list of things has at least some basis in vaccines. Again, not every case, by far, but it is certainly a factor.

Aah, ok, so you didn't really want thoughts, you wanted an echo chamber. There's probably FB groups for that.

Whinberry · 11/09/2017 23:28

The earth is flat. I was wondering if any others on MN agree with me on this so we can reinforce each others beliefs without having annoying facts getting in the way?

youarenotkiddingme · 12/09/2017 21:32

What zzzzz said with bells on.

Sorry to disappoint that I'm not another like minded person you're searching for.
