I have been given the opportunity to organise a FREE group consultation with Dr Ron Leaf on Wednesday 28th July for the support group I run. I wonder if any London-based MNers woudl be interested too? There is currently some flexibility on time and the event will take about 2 hours. The venue depends on how many people wish to attend and is likely to be Central to North London, hopefully near a tube. I need to know AS SOON AS POSSIBLE who is interested and what time suits them best (morning, afternoon or evening).
Dr Ron Leaf (see below for further info) is one of the pioneers of ABA as a program for young children with ASD having worked with Dr Lovaas on the original study at UCLA. He then went on to found Autism Partnership with John McEachin, another recognised authority, and is the co-author of the well known book and program ?A Work In Progress?. The consultation will start with a presentation, which would include some information on the work of Autism Partnership, and then he will offer advice, guidance and ideas on any issues parents wish to raise including specific behaviours of their individual children.
Ron Leaf, Ph.D. Dr. Leaf received his doctorate at UCLA under the direction of Dr. Ivar Lovaas. During his professional training at UCLA, he served as Clinic Supervisor, Research Psychologist, Lecturer, and Interim Director of the Young Autism Project. He was extensively involved in many of the Young Autism Project research investigations, contributed to The Me Book, and is co-author of The Me Book Videotapes. He has consulted nationally and internationally to families and school districts. In 1994 he joined with John McEachin in forming Autism Partnership which they co-direct. They have co-authored a book on behavioural intervention for persons with autism titled ?A Work in Progress?.
